Carl and Mary Brown bought this land and moved to Maidencreek Township
in Berks County in 1947 with their two children Wil and Lillian. Their
son David was born there and operated the dairy operation there until
the mid 90's. Now he is the Vineyard Manager while his son Dan is
the winemaker. Dan and his wife Jaime founded Deerfoot Vineyards and
Winery in 2014. The vineyard went in five years before that. The farm
itself predates them all.

Deerfoot Vineyards and Winery is a farm winery based in Berks County,
Pennsylvania, operating since 2014. Dan Brown, the winemaker, is a
third-generation farmer and the winery is an extension of the
family farm.
We started growing grapes in 2010 with the intention of selling
them to other wineries. Dan went back to school, earned a degree in
Enology and Viticulture, and obtained a winery license so we could
make wine on the farm where the grapes grow. He has earned more
medals and awards than any single winemaker currently working in
Pennsylvania.
Unlike many Pennsylvania wineries, we don't focus on events or
entertainment. We are about the wine. We thrive on bottle sales,
not on operating as a bar or a venue. Producing a high-quality,
consistent product has served the business well and we offer a
generous tasting policy so guests can find the right wine for them.
